Our Ambition 2050: Contributing to the Net-Zero Carbon Emissions ambition

Buying carbon neutrality will not erase our footprint.

We want to reduce our carbon emissions first.

Energy-related CO2 emissions worldwide rose by 6% in 2021, reaching the highest level ever recorded. These emissions are responsible for climate change, which is having a major impact on our quality of life all over the world: changing the air we breathe, reducing drinking water supplies, destroying the places where we live and reducing food supplies.
As manufacturers, we have a significant responsibility for these emissions.
But we don’t want to buy carbon credits to offset them, because that doesn’t tackle the real problems.

Creating 'green' products is not the solution.

We favour renewable and recyclable natural resources.

We are going to run out of the natural resources (water, metals, plants, animals) that are essential to human life for food, clothing, housing and entertainment. The planet is our reserve, but it is never replenished. We take a lot from it and give back too little to ensure that it continues to supply us for many generations to come.

We could create ‘green’ products, an easy and media-friendly solution, but that won’t create any new resources.
We design all our products with the same concern to reduce environmental impact as much as possible.

Every year, we make further improvements to achieve a 26% reduction in our direct and indirect CO2 emissions (scope 1, 2 and 3) by 2030.

No, the paper industry is not deforesting!

The surface area of forests is increasing in Europe and we only use paper from sustainable forests

Contrary to popular belief, between 2005 and 2020, European forests increased by 58,000 km2, an area larger than Switzerland or the equivalent of 1,500 football fields a day!

90% of our emissions come from indirect activities: manufacture of paper and plastic by our suppliers, treatment of end-of-life products.
However, we take responsibility for the entire chain and have set ourselves ambitious targets for reducing our direct and indirect carbon emissions.

Our reduction targets are in line with the Paris Agreement

2030 : - 26% reduction in CO2eq emissions compared with 2021

2050: Contribute to Ambition Net Zero Emissions

Our targets are in the process of SBTi certification. Residual CO2eq emissions will be offset when these targets are reached, and by 2030 at the latest.
We will follow the United Nations’ recommendations for the choice of offset projects, taking into account soil conversion and food competition.

How will we achieve our 2030 targets?

  • Use alternative plastics: recyclable, biosourced, biodegradable, etc.
  • Working with our paper suppliers to reduce their carbon footprint.
  • Reduce and rework our packaging, in particular by eliminating single-use plastic packaging.Eco-design all our new products.
  • Reduce the energy consumption of our plants and offices.
  • Increase the proportion of renewable energy in our electricity consumption.
  • Optimise our supply and distribution chain through more sustainable modes of transport
  • Encourage our employees to work more sustainably (commuting, etc.)
